We met Dr. Callie in January of 2025.  We had been looking for a new doctor since we were unsatisfied with our pediatrician, and friends of ours had shared their positive experiences at Be Well.  What stood out to us in particular was Dr. Callie’s approach to care, seeking to identify root causes and offering testing and treatment outside of  what conventional medicine offered.

     Our daughter had been diagnosed with fibrous dysplasia prior to coming to Be Well, and for two years, she had been on maximum doses of pain medicine daily to control pain in her jaw.  Additionally, she had been given multiple rounds of antibiotics to help clear swelling in her cheek, which also, interestingly, stopped the pain.  The doctors we had seen in the metro and in Iowa City said there could be no connection between antibiotics resolving pain, and furthermore, they said there was nothing to be done for the pain aside from taking pain medicine.

     Our first appointment with Dr. Callie was so very different from every appointment we’d had in other offices.  Dr. Callie gave us close to an hour of her undivided attention.  She listened, asked questions, rehearsed timelines, and shared ideas for testing that had never been suggested to us. Within the first month of being under Dr. Callie’s care, our daughter had extensive blood work done to rule out a huge list of possible issues.  We also had a GI map and food sensitivity test done, and we found several underlying issues.  Dr. Callie quickly and carefully created a plan to attack issues, and we’ve had the joy of seeing our daughter go days and months without swelling and pain.  We continue to work through different issues, but our daughter is SO much healthier since beginning care at Be Well and we have more hope than ever before that the suffering she has experienced might not always be a part of her days!
